Do Not Tell Eva
For our first anniversary, Zarita hand-delivered hundreds of invitations to a surprise party in the Courtyard. Somehow, nobody told Eva.

Strict, stylish, funny, and always run by women, for women.
The Dominion Femdom opened its doors in Second Life on 17 October 2008. Evangeline Eames built it, and Maz, our Squirrel, was there from the first day with the graphics and the opening film that shook the grid.
We searched out and acquired the best of everything. We wanted The D to be elegant, sophisticated, comfortable, and stylish, without compromising on the kink or the discipline.
Too many femdoms were soft, apologetic, sub-centred, and eager to please, or were run to fulfil the fantasies of men. Our vision of femdom was stricter, female-centred, and feminist. The Dominion Femdom was built by us, for us.
Friends came quickly. Madeleine Broome, from another femdom in SL. Destiny, who turned up at the opening party, was asked to join staff that night, and was "the new staff member" ever after. Eloise Mureaux and Pamela Emmons, friends from elsewhere in the SL femdom world. Then Zarita, Noirran, Persephone, Maisy, and more people than any page can hold.
What The D became, it became because of them and those who followed: the hosts, DJs, writers, judges, performers, players, and regulars who showed up week after week, on staff or not. Their strength, intelligence, sense of humour, and creativity are why The Dominion Femdom remains legendary, and why its name still strikes fear into the hearts of submissives everywhere.
A castle, a courtyard, and an opening film by Maz announce The Dominion Femdom to Second Life.
Friday themed parties, Thursday Trials & Punishments, Destiny's Sunday Discussions, the Slave Hunt, and our first slave auctions. Within months they were institutions.
1,000 members in six months. The same month, Femdom Confessions holds its first night and Adventures in Pameland premieres in a theatre built just for the occasion.
Haruka Sakai is kidnapped, and the whole community turns detective. The Confessions blog launches the same week.
Zarita hand-delivers hundreds of invitations, nobody tells Eva, and our first Masquerade Ball crashes the sim. Days earlier, the Art Gallery opens at Dominion Luxe.
A police force is sworn in under founding Chief Zarita. A month later, a helicopter sub-rescue raid on Trials puts it to the test. Bribes accepted where necessary.
Hannah hosts our first Black & Blue Munch, and Wednesdays are never the same.
A reading at Girls Aloud grows into our first full performance, hosted by Destiny, to a full sim.
Gabrielle asks her first crowd, "Green side or orange side?" She would keep asking for over a decade.
Noirran opens Club Noir, and Tuesdays belong to her.
At a Dominion fundraiser auction, the subs buy Garth a day as Mayor. It ends with heads rolling.
Raffi opens our first Red Door Event, a private play party modelled on real-life femdom gatherings.
Karrie's company opens with Taming of the Shrew, then Grease a week later. Rocky Horror, SNOW, and Little Shop of Horrors follow.
Our sixth anniversary closes with the Theatre Group's Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Persephone as Frank-N-Furter.
A week of seventh-anniversary events: the Seven Sins exhibit, Inquisition Trials, the Fear the Dark ball, and Little Shop of Horrors.
A moving and sometimes difficult discussion, held in support of the global campaign to end violence against women.
Pamela Emmons opens her Dance Dungeon, with the most recognisable dance floor on the grid.
An anniversary auction, a Monsters Ball, Joie's retrospective, and a discussion so nostalgic SL crashed half the room.
Fourteen years of Christmas group portraits hang together in The Courtyard.
The Dominion still stands on the grid. Ready for another chapter?
Gothic at its heart, with a stage in the sky for every party.
The iconic heart of The D, with cells, equipment, and places to relax.
Our themed parties were almost always held in the sky, on a new set Evangeline built for every theme.
Games, Open Mic, smaller discussions, and public hijinks, with Maisy and her endless cups of tea.
Stone vaults, iron doors, and the most recognisable dance floor on the grid.
Home of Lisa's big Sunday Discussions.
A dedicated space for our bigger events: Speed Mingling, Reach for the Top, games, hunts, and gladiator bouts.
Custom built for each occasion: Karrie's productions, the Vagina Monologues, poetry readings, and a theatre built just to premiere Pameland.
Opened in October 2009 at Dominion Luxe. Exhibitions, challenges, and photo contests, led by Janice Jupiter.
Three highland sims of private residences, plus Dominion Luxe, with smaller homes and resources for those new to SL and to femdom.
There was always something on. These are the events people still ask about.
Our big weekly writing event. Confessions, crushes, fantasies, and fiction, read aloud or dropped anonymously in the Courtyard mailbox. The first night in April 2009 was hosted by Ravanys Lavendel, in a nun's habit, in a seedy bar that appeared where the Arena used to be.
Everyone dressed for the theme, the DJs prepared custom set lists, and Evangeline built a new set in the sky for every party. Juke joints, Titanic, Versailles, Metropolis, Barbarians, and Librarians. Some nights ran seven hours.
Dommes brought their naughty subs before the court, and sometimes the accused arrived courtesy of a Dominion Police arrest. A crowd always came to watch. Special editions included the Supreme Court, the Salem Bitch Trials, and the Femdom Avengers.
Our most infamous tradition, with the boys on the block and the bidding fierce. Auctionees were sometimes set to building lamps while they waited. It was exactly as strange as it sounds.
Pamela Emmons' Saturday night D Lounge was a must. Noirran's Club Noir owned Tuesdays, and Steven and Kris kept Alt Music Wednesdays going. The elegant Eloise Mureaux played regular sets full of star-studded anecdotes and witty banter. Live singers performed, and Gabrielle hosted Open Mic, often singing herself.
Karrie's Theatre Group staged its productions in custom-built event spaces. Destiny hosted the Vagina Monologues. The Tongue & Groove Poetry Society held seasonal readings, and the Art Gallery ran exhibitions, challenges, and photo contests.
Speed Mingling ran for over a decade. Trivia began in 2009, when the boys finally won. Reach for the Top, Name That Tune, Taboo, Pictionary, pub quizzes, and Play D'Oh filled the rest of the week, and every fall brought the Dommes vs. Subs Cheer Off.
Lisa's big Sunday Discussions in the Arena, Black & Blue Munches, Mistress Mentoring for the dommes, Sub Drop In with our staff subs, D/s Under the Hood, Interview with a Domme and Interview with a Sub, Pervertables, Dominion Guru, and the Talking Dead.
Boot Camp knocked the recruits into shape, sometimes zombie style. Charm School polished them. The Red Door was a private play party modelled on real-life femdom gatherings. And Joie's epic fashion shows were the height of glamour, creativity, and style.
The stories that still come up whenever two old members meet.
For our first anniversary, Zarita hand-delivered hundreds of invitations to a surprise party in the Courtyard. Somehow, nobody told Eva.
Our first anniversary ball drew such a crowd that it crashed the sim. Eloise Mureaux and Syriana kept the music going, and the Masquerade Ball became an annual anniversary tradition.
Destiny sold a very particular performance at a charity auction for the American Cancer Society. Angel Keen won it, and Destiny paid up on stage before a crowd of over sixty. You can imagine what happened.
By popular demand, there was a sequel in 2012: Le Big O Deux.
It began with a scream at Trials. Haruka Sakai had been kidnapped, and the community had one week to find her. Medussa Reddevil and Ian Newt built the whole thing, and Madeleine, Vran, and Jimmy solved it first.
It inspired years of Halloween mysteries, including the Witch Hunt, though none quite as epic.
Every so often we packed up and went exploring. We invaded Gor, where Retief showed us around by tarn. We visited the vampires of Bloodlines, toured Virtual Africa, watched Shakespeare at the Globe, cheered on a roller derby, and once left the grid entirely for InWorldz, where we all arrived as fresh-faced newbie avatars and had to start again from scratch, as the photo shows.
Patrick even led sub-only field trips. Gor survived. Mostly.
It started in April 2009, when a few dommes turned up in uniforms with pom-poms and formed a squad on the spot. It grew into our annual Dommes vs. Subs Cheer Off, with Pamela Emmons producing the domme routines and Zaira and Heather captaining the subs.
The subs pulled off an upset in 2012. In 2014 the dommes won, helped perhaps by the fact that only dommes were allowed to vote.
In the middle of Trials, a helicopter full of tiny paratroopers landed on the set to rescue a sub, kidnapping a domme on the way out and leaving Dominion on fire. It was quite the test for our brand-new police force.
Some auctionees were set to building lamps while they waited on the block. By 2012 there was a giant one. Nobody remembers why, and nobody has forgotten.
At a Dominion fundraiser auction, the subs pooled their money and bought Garth a day as Mayor of Dominion. By 10:01 am there were loungers, a big screen, and a throne in the Courtyard, plus a gold statue of the Mayor himself.
By evening the subs were trying to put the dommes on trial. Heads rolled.
Crissy's hysterical annual hunt. Any sub who got shot was turned into a turkey, and stayed one.
Scripted by Matria, and so popular it crept into Boot Camp.
Our beauty pageant for the boys, hosted by Destiny before a panel of very particular judges. Wheels Crazyboi wore the crown, and never let anyone forget it.
Jimmy's leather-clad gang, immortalised by Janice Jupiter of the Art Gallery.
When Madison, one of our long-time staff subs, got married in real life, the D Lounge threw her a bachelorette bash. It included a lapdance from her Mistress, Gabrielle, which the blog called "something you won't see again."
Pamela Emmons, in those were the days. Public play in the Courtyard was a spectator sport.
Maisy was never one for hosting events. She was a force all on her own, holding down the Courtyard with endless cups of tea.
I, [name], do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and diligently serve Dominion, in the Dominion Police, without favour or affection, with malice and abuse if needed, until I am lawfully or unlawfully discharged. While in the Dominion Police I will, to the best of my power, keep the peace and prevent offences against the Dominion peace, and will, to the best of my skill and knowledge, accept bribes and enforce corruption only where absolutely positively definitely necessary. I will perform all the duties of the office of the law according to law or make it up.So help me Goddess.
Nearly every event had its own poster, and Maz made most of them.

Fashion, fiction, advice, and reviews for all of femdom in Second Life.
FEMDOM Magazine was a sister project, and deliberately never a Dominion newsletter. Its covers and pages featured communities from across the grid, from O Palais and La Fortezza to Regime Imperia, alongside many friends from The D who wrote for it.
Eighteen issues were published. The first fifteen came out as in-world magazines with covers by Maz. The last three went online only.
You can still read the in-world copies as a HUD at The Dominion today.
The Dominion helped orchestrate a series of Femdom Network and FetLife events that brought some very big names to Second Life.

A FEMDOM Magazine munch in March 2010, and a live voice interview in July 2011.
Interviewed by Destiny Teardrop on 24 October 2010.
The Femdom Network itself was founded in the fall of 2008 to promote femdom in Second Life and support femdom communities, joining The Dominion Femdom with La Fortezza, the Queendom of Bouddicea, Inamorata Femdom, O Palais, and Strict Venus.
No list could hold everyone. These are names that come up again and again in fifteen years of the blog, and for each one there are dozens more who hosted, helped, performed, wrote, and simply showed up.
And Crissy and her turkeys, Summer's Boot Camp, Raffi's Red Door, Hannah's discussions and Black & Blue Munches, Nej's art and her Pervertables, Carla's police force, Maisy's tea, and so many more.
Our support team, fluffers, and all-around bigger-uppers, occasionally taking a starring role. Some were official staff; the rest were so regular they might as well have been.

And yes, Chattel was there too.
Long-time staff member, provocateur, and creative force. Mo led Dominion Guru and many of our Mistress Mentoring evenings, hosted countless discussions, guest-hosted nearly everything else, and graced the cover of FEMDOM Magazine. If you met her, you could never forget her.
And for every member of our community we have lost over the years. Much loved, lost to us in this world, and forever ours.
